Day 6 – Rest day in Gijón

A quick update from us in Gijón. Today we explored the city, recharged our batteries and went to the beach. With a temperature of 26 degrees, that sounds like a perfect plan.

The water on the beach is very clear. I even discovered a swimming pool (left)
Small park on the hill in the old town.

The old town of Gijón is very large with many hidden alleyways and a lot of bars. At 10 o’clock in the morning they are all closed, of course, but in the evening you can find lots of people here. We had a delicious dinner in a small tavern (pimientos al padrón, ensalada de tomate, patatas, huevos, jamón)

We also visited a small museum that told us about the men and women of Gijón. Stephan thought it was really great and I mainly looked at the pictures.

After the museum and a 5 km walk, we were very tired and went back to the hotel for a siesta. As Spaniards, that’s just part of it!

Of course, a rest day also includes a visit to the beach. Floating in the water is very good for you.

The rest day did us good and was necessary. Now we are well prepared for tomorrow.

Conclusion of the day today: you have to take a break!
