The weather forecast said it would be cooler and we didn&#8217;t actually have to battle the heat today. The bikes are ready and the legs are still fit. <\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Even before we had ridden the first 10 km, we had to climb the first mountain and had the first 220 m on the speedometer before 10:30 am. Santander is a beautiful and large city. I even saw the university (a possibility for a doctorate? Who knows?) The problem was then getting out of Santander again. It took us almost 1h30min to get back on our route. It&#8217;s quite a difference riding in the city or in the countryside!   <\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Now it&#8217;s time to drive the last few kilometers on the national road to get to our destination. At 16:10 we drove into Santillana del Mar. The name of the village is deceptive, as there is no beach here &#8211; it&#8217;s a real fossil!
